It is terribly upsetting news to hear about the layoffs within the last few weeks. Not the best way to start the summer, that’s for sure. My heart goes out to every single person affected, and to those who are now more scared than ever to enter the industry.

That being said, ENTRY LVL has always stood to provide an optimistic and realistic viewpoint on it all, and I’m hoping to provide a bit of positivity for game-hopefuls and industry pros alike with a summer check-in from myself and the ENTRY LVL crew.

Up until now, 2025 has been a great year for ENTRY LVL. We transferred from my original online magazine-style format in January to a fully fledged website, making all of our resources far more accessible. Thanks to all of you kind folks checking in, the workload became too much for myself to handle! In comes my 10 incredible volunteers, who have continued to write, build, and work hard for the community (three cheers, you guys). With that came the introduction to our indie zone, highlighting industry folk who are working hard in the indie zine to create fun and memorable games.

The old magazine had little columns of tips that I used when I was (and am) looking for work and networking. That also changed, now forming our Master List and becoming the “Starting Point” for all you lovely devs. I’m also really happy to announce that we’ve got even more resources coming to you, in the style of “Resource Packs”; small downloadable chapters of content that set you up from A-Z in a more focused field of work. We’re aiming to release that content by the end of the summer, so keep your eyes peeled!

We’ve also had the absolute wonder of doing live content with you all. We have many more Q&As planned with industry pros and industry newbies alike, and are looking to do that approximately once a month with you all. We’re hoping you’re getting as much out of it as I am! Huge shoutouts to Ronnie and Sam, who were our first lovely guests.
Live content has also looked like our fun co-work events every other week, where you all have shown off some absolutely amazing stuff and motivated everyone to keep workin’ hard!

Finally, we have something exciting coming up in terms of events. We wanted a way to bring everyone together and be able to provide content on their resumes or work towards a specific goal, so we’re very excited to be releasing our first official ENTRY LVL challenge coming to you in the next couple weeks.

There’s a lot to still go and we’re hard at work, but I wanted to update our absolutely amazing community and continue to show that we have great ideas and hopes for the future. Let’s keep on going for the rest of this year, and keep going even further!
